When Mother’s Day comes around, I always reach out to Google to see the year’s mom’s day gifts ideas. Every year, I look at a few lists from various bloggers to get some ideas and every year I click of the blogs and STILL need ideas. They all seem to lack something. In the spirit of the “up and coming” Father’s Day, I thought I would lend my support as an experienced father for some insight on ideas. Its not always easy to come up with gifts for people that seem to have what they need. So here is my list of possible ideas to help you out in your search. I know that everyone has their own likes and dislikes and that ANY list is really not conclusive. But here are some ideas:-)
- BBQ Stuff – I know that not all dads are backyard BBQ enthusiasts. But a good portion of dads out there love a good Barbecue. As a BBQ enthusiast, I am always looking for a new rub or device to make the job a little easier. I’m always looking for something new to try.
2. An Outdoor Game – BucketGolf Set – This is a fun new lawn game that can be played almost anywhere with no real golf skills needed. The whole family can play and you can make a whole new course every time.
3. That Good Ice Machine – Everyone knows that a cold beverages taste better with pellet ice cubes. A home counter top machine can change the whole summer!
4. A new book! If you know that the dad in your life likes to read, a good book is a great way to help them relax. A good biography is a great way to spend the summer. A subscription to audible is great for the dad that has long drives or that just doens’t like to read but will listen to books. Best of all, Dad can try it for free to see if he likes it!
5. Garage Essentials – Anything to help make a dads life easier is a good thing. Keeping the garage clean is always work and there are great devices out there to help.
6. POWER TOOLS – Who doesn’t love a new power tool to make life easier?
- driver
- Car polisher
- Chainsaw – I just purchased this one myself.
7. Headphones – I don’t know how we lived life without headphones! A good pair of headphones can make working, traveling, relaxing, or listening to a book a much better experience. I have the Apple Airpods but have heard really good things about the Beats airbuds, and over the ear headphones.
8. Subscriptions! – I mentioned an audible account already. But a subscription to MLBTV is a great gift for baseball fans. What ever kind of fan your dad is, there is likely a subscription for him.
9. EDC (EveryDay Carry) Items – Dads always have items on them to fix things. They have to be ready for everything. I don’t think that dads can have too many pocket knives. I almost always have one on me. You’d also find one on my keys, in my backpack, in my car, my desk, my took chest and an array of other places. A good knife is a great tool. A flashlight is always a good option to keep in the car as well.
10. Camp Fire/Fire Pit Essentials – Whether you dad is a camper or a backyard fire pit tender, there are some tools that make the job easier. Here are some good camp fire options: Fire poker, Wood Splitter, Fire Proof Gloves, and Torch.
What did I miss? What are some of the ideas that you have for your dads this year? I would love to hear all the thoughts, ideas, the good, bad, and the ugly! Comment below on what you plan on doing for your dad this Father’s Day! I hope you have a great time celebrating the dads and/or dad-like figures in your life. Celebrate them while they are still around to do it. To tell the truth, there is no reason to wait for a holiday. The people in your life that are special to you, whether they are moms, dads, grandparents, friends that have become family, neighbors that are special to you, will appreciate being told or shown that they mean that much to you. And you will be glad you made the effort. Happy Celebrating!
